RESIDENTIAL LIFE MANAGER (MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL HOUSE PARENT)

Overview of the Position

Y2MAC is seeking an adventurous individual to join our team. Reporting to the principal, the Residence Manager is a live-in position with overall responsibility for the student’s growth, development and welfare outside of school hours (term time only). Specifically, this person is the adult presence and role model, providing care and guidance to our adolescents in their home away from home. They will oversee homework, organize the cooking of breakfast and dinner with the students, attend resident’s meetings that oversee the governance of the boarding community, and help arrange and supervise evening and/or weekend activities according to interest and needs. They are also the first point of contact for students during this time and support health, safety and welfare of students, along with leading the building of cohesion, ensuring that the students take ownership of building a healthy, accepting and supportive community.

If desired, the RLM may be able to work with students during the school day particularly in the areas of expertise and/or interests. Montessori training in the USA or Australia may be provided.


Accomadation

The Residential Life Manager will be provided with a studio unit in our residential facility and will be required to live in the residence during all term times.


Hours of Operation

The students are away from the residence from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Bedtime is 10:00 pm Sunday to Thursday nights and 11 pm on Friday and Saturdays. While the Residential Life Manager needs to be in the residence to respond to emergencies, typically, this time is their own. As student numbers grow and they spend more time at school, a team of adults will work together for this end.

The Residential Life Manager is part of the team of adults working with the students and will join staff meetings at appropriate times as well as keep records of observations in our online tool. He/she will follow the guidelines outlined in the handbook and policies under the general direction of the Principal, who he/she reports to.


Compensation

Main Responsibilities

  • Help with student arrivals and settling

  • Promoting the health, safety and welfare of students living in the residence/s. This includes handling emergencies, escorting students to medical appointments and noting these in the record keeping system.

  • Handling and coordinating operational matters related to the residences with the building management team such as maintenance requests and facility upkeep.

  • Clarifying and enforcing policies with regard to adolescent conduct.

  • Be present and active in the living spaces during non-school times

  • Oversee breakfast and dinner and snack preparation and clean up with students

  • Organize, oversee and take part in student chore roster and help student learn the skills to keep the residence clean and beautiful

  • Register students in the morning as they report to breakfast, take note of any late-comers and let the lead guide know of any illnesses.

  • Liaise with day staff to ensure food for all meals is ordered, inventoried and used.

  • Offer opportunities for physical and creative activities

  • Oversee study hall in the evenings as needed

  • Attend and contribute to the residents meetings as scheduled.

  • Oversee laundry (ensure each student is doing their laundry)

  • Ensure students are in bed with lights out at the agreed times.

  • Be a role model of positive adult behaviour, adhering to school rules and the community agreement.

  • Organize transport where necessary and appropriate

  • Be on call at night.

  • Oversee sick students during non school times

  • Liaise with lead teacher/parents outside of school hours

  • Attend whole staff meetings as appropriate.

  • Update the student database with observations and pertinent information about students daily.


Candidate Requirements

A. Essential

  • Easily spoken English

  • Legally able to work in Taiwan

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with strong student-centered focus

  • Familiarity with adolescent development, challenges and rewards.

  • Skills and/or interests in at least two different areas to pass on and engage with students, i.e. cycling, hiking, painting, baking, gardening etc

  • Ability to cook and pass on your cooking skills to the student cooks

  • A generally positive outlook on life

  • Ability to admit when wrong and apologize

  • Fantastic Sense of humour (not based on sarcasm or putting others down)

  • Ability to easily and gracefully enforce rules and guidelines

  • Ability to live in a community, resolve conflict peacefully, enjoy the energy, creativity and sense of expectancy of adolescents, and enjoy working in a team environment, solving issues collectively as they arise.

  • Willingness to undergo Montessori adolescent training if offered.

  • Experience living with adolescents.

  • Ability to respond to and triage unexpected and serious incidents effectively

  • Need to work collaboratively as part of a team and interact effectively with colleagues, faculty and students

  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred (or will be trained)

  • Strong sense of discretion, confidentiality and tact


B. Ideal

  • Native English speaker

  • Knowledge of non-violent communication/restorative justice practices

  • BA in counseling

  • Experience working in a residential programme

  • Montessori 12-18 experience and/or qualifications

ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER/SPECIALIST

Job Specifications

Main Responsibilities

The School Administrative Manager/ Specialist plays a key role in managing and overseeing various administrative operations within the school. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing projects related to administrative affairs, human resources, outreach, events, legal compliance, facility management, as well as financial and general affairs. The Specialist will work closely with other staff members of Y2MAC and Y2 Foundation.


Duties

A. Finance and Accounting

  • Handle the school’s daily financial operations, including processing bills, receipts, and payments.

  • Assist in preparing financial reports, monitoring budget expenditures, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.

  • Regularly review and maintain financial records and accounts to ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements.

  • Manage the school’s cash flow and assist with financial forecasting and planning.


B. Filing and Documentation

  • Establish and maintain a systematic filing system to ensure all important documents and records are secure and easily accessible.

  • Develop and adhere to the school’s document management policies and procedures, regularly updating and organizing files.


C. Facility Management and HR Support

  • Handle the school’s daily financial operations, including processing bills, receipts, and payments.

  • Coordinate or support activities related to admissions, promotions, internal training, or team building.

  • Oversee social media communication and promotion, as well as website creation and updates.

UNIVERSITY COUNSELOR

Job Specifications

  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Working with the adolescents part-time during the year 2025-2026, with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time position in September 2026, or continuing in a part-time role depending on the circumstances.

  • Expected Pay Range: Salary will be discussed with candidates based on how we collaborate, frequency, and duration.


Main Responsibilities

  • Provide students with information, guidance, and advocacy as they navigate their post-secondary plans worldwide.

  • Assist students in their capacity for reflection, decision-making, and self-advocacy.

  • Build and maintain relationships with admission professionals.

  • Arrange College/University visits and trips to local University fairs.

  • Compile records of office activities and maintain a database system; update and maintain databases such as mailing lists and contact lists.

  • Coordinate college/university event planning and implementation.

  • Coordinate information both internally and externally with broad constituents.

  • Educate families about college/university admissions and financial aid or scholarship possibilities.

  • Educate students on appropriate interviewing techniques, self-assessment tools, and application essay writing techniques.

  • Serve as a general resource for students, parents, and teaching faculty regarding admission criteria and college/university data.

  • Work effectively one-on-one with students and be able to address small or large gatherings of people to discuss the college/university admission and research process.

  • Work with faculty to integrate college/university-related skills (i.e., essay writing, interviewing, etc.) into regular curricula.

  • Write school recommendations for members of the senior class (detailed letters of support).

Education

  • AMI 12-18 diploma is preferred.

HIGH SCHOOL PART-TIME TEACHER


We invite individuals with passion and expertise in areas such as language teaching (other than Mandarin and English), business/ management, technology, art, drama, crafts, poetry, animation, film, design, and music to share their interests with adolescents and support their exploration and growth. Weekly hours and hourly rates vary depending on the area of expertise. The salary ranges from NTD 700 to 1,200 per hour and can be negotiated based on experience and qualification.

Duties

A. Guiding

The Adolescent guide is responsible for working in and with a community of adolescents aged 15 – 18. The guide is one of a team of adults who collaborate to create a stimulating and engaging experience for adolescents using the Montessori philosophy. The guide works with the team and the principal's guidance to create the programme offered to the students, helping each student become the best possible version of themselves.

  • Exhibit reverence, belief and trust in each adolescent.

  • Work in collaboration with all guides and each adolescent to help them reach their potential.

  • Ensure respect and safety for every adolescent in the community.

  • Ensure those with learning differences are respectfully included in your programme, in all interactions and in all options for exploration – physical, intellectual, spiritual, etc.

  • Using your specialty subjects as the basis, develop integrated units of study and work specific to the adolescents you are working with.

  • Use the three-level lesson format to plan programmes.

  • Ensure quality lessons are given in accordance with Montessori philosophy
